Some time ago, Facebook introduced a new messaging app called Facebook Lite which is specially made for users who face internet connection issues.
The main idea of the new app and the old one is still the same and they share the same functionality. For example, you can ignore the messages in both of them and reject them, and likewise, being in Facebook jail prevents you from using either of the two apps.
Difference between Facebook vs Facebook Lite?
This raises a question, what are the differences between Facebook and Facebook Lite? You sit back and find out which of these Facebook apps you should use more.
When it comes to a better user interface, Facebook is definitely on hand. Toggling between notifications, friends, feed, profile, and watchlist is easy and easy. Whereas in Facebook Lite, you can observe and experience the slow loading time it takes to switch between all these components.
Scrolling down or up even and other posts such as pictures, videos, GIFs, status updates, check-ins, and many others are comparatively better on Facebook than Facebook Lite. But all these features work only when connected to a stable Internet connection.
This is a new feature of the Facebook app recently introduced. In this section, you can see all the videos and clips uploaded by your friends and all the pages you liked.
There is no such feature available on the light version yet. However, you will still be able to watch all those videos in the feed section. But there is no separate tab for that.
As for the quality of images, Facebook Lite does not come anywhere near the main app. Facebook displays images in the best high definition quality therefore increasing the loading time.
It’s clear. Users can download Facebook Lite for only 1.41 MB, therefore, covering a lesser part of your storage space while the Facebook app varies according to each device. My device will require 71 MB of space.
Not only storage space, but these apps are also very different in terms of total memory consumption including app memory, user data, and cache memory. I tried both of these apps to show you the place to cover after a fresh start.
The Facebook app covered 276 MB, while Facebook Lite covered only 14.5 MB. Keep in mind, this size will increase with the use of both these apps. Still, Facebook Lite’s memory consumption is nowhere near the Facebook app.
Once RAM is in use, the Facebook app will occupy more RAM to operate due to the many features and size of the huge app.
3) New Post
The winner in this particular difference between Facebook and Facebook Lite depends entirely on the user’s point of view. The Facebook app automatically refreshes the news feed with the latest posts while Facebook Lite provides users with an option if they want to see the latest posts by tapping on the new post button.
For me, I don’t like to constantly refresh the feeds because it completely reloads the page which sometimes results in missing some old posts that I was looking for.
Due to the larger app size, more features, and higher-quality images, the Facebook app increases battery much faster than the Lite version.
When using the Facebook app, you will not be able to access messages and chat. For that purpose, you will have to install the Facebook Messenger app separately. Only then, you will be able to see your messages and see which others are online.
But you will not need an app to access chat on Facebook Lite. This is the best feature on the lite version according to me personally. No chat heads, no additional apps, just tap on the Messenger tab in the app and that’s it.
One more clear. Facebook Lite was originally designed for users who do not want to spend most of their data scrolling to the Facebook wormhole. In Facebook Lite, videos do not play automatically, instead, you have to tap on the video to watch them. However, this setting can also be applied in the Facebook app.
The Facebook Lite version will work even when you are experiencing poor Internet connectivity. And using Facebook with a slow internet connection is no less fortunate for you.
After going through all these differences, you must have been clear that Facebook Lite makes the Facebook app better and better. But choosing one depends on your needs.
Do not use Facebook Lite in any way if you are facing internet connection issues. But if you are a user like me who just does not want to compromise image quality then Facebook is a better option.
